Main roadways in Boone, Valle Crucis, and Blowing Rock have opened.

We encourage visitors to stay on primary routes shown on DriveNC.gov and follow posted advisories to ensure a smooth and safe trip. Some secondary roads are still undergoing repairs, and lane closures and detours remain in place, especially along US Hwy 421 North and US Hwy 321 toward Tennessee.
As you make plans to visit the area, we encourage you to consider the following guidelines:
- Many hotels and lodging properties are assisting displaced families, aid workers, and construction crews. We recommend calling individual properties to check availability.
- Consider making a day trip to support our local shops, restaurants, and businesses.
- Consider ride-sharing and free public transit opportunities, such as the AppalCart, to lessen the impact on traffic.
While our community retains the familiar warmth and spirit you may have experienced previously, some areas are still in the process of recovery, and we appreciate your understanding as we navigate this transition. Thank you for being an essential part of our recovery!
