Choose & Cut Christmas Tree
A popular Christmas tradition in Boone is to choose your own Christmas tree. The area has several tree farms that allow you to select a fresh Christmas tree and have it cut down before you take it home.
Winter Sports in Boone
If you’re searching for thrilling winter sports, look no further than Boone. Boone is central to three of the High Country’s ski resorts: Appalachian Ski Mountain, Beech Mountain Resort and Sugar Mountain Resort. All three offer skiing, snowboarding, tubing, ice skating, lessons and more.

Boone is also home to Hawksnest Snow Tubing, the largest snow tubing park on the East Coast. Perfect for all ages, Hawksnest boasts four tubing areas with lanes that range between 400 and 1000 feet long.
Shop Local
From December until March, browse the goods and products from Boone’s local growers and craftsmen at the Boone Winter Famers Market. This market takes place every Saturday beginning December 7, 2024 and continues until March 2025. Find fresh, seasonal vegetables, locally raised meats, baked items, handcrafted works, toys and more at the Watauga County Agricultural Conference Center.
