Here are our top events happening in the High Country during April.
April 5: Blowing Rock Trout Derby
The Annual Trout Derby begins at sunrise on Saturday, prizes awarded at 4:30 pm. Win prizes for biggest fish in separate age categories! No entry fees are required and no pre-registration is necessary. Just take your catch to the Club House by the swimming pool before 4:30 pm (173 Lakeside Drive, Blowing Rock). April 5: Tweetsie Railroad Opening Day
Tweetsie Railroad will open for its 2025 season with daytime operations beginning April 5, 2025. Featuring a family-friendly Wild West Adventure for children of all ages.
April 24-27: Merlefest
MerleFest, considered one of the premier music festivals in the country, is an annual homecoming of musicians and music fans held on the campus of Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, North Carolina. The festival hosts a diverse mix of artists on its 13 stages during the course of the four-day event. More info: merlefest.org
