About Mast General Store
The original Mast General Store location, in Valle Crucis, opened in 1883 as The Taylor General Store. Owner Henry Taylor later sold the store to W.W. Mast who renamed it the Mast General Store. The store remained owned and operated by the Mast Family for 60 years, selling everything the local community needed.
The Mast General Store has been named to the National Register of Historic Places, existing as an example of an operating old country general store. Step back in time when you first walk across the wooden floorboards. Browse vintage signs, dishes and more among the popular items of today.
Shopping at the Mast General Store
You’ll be able to find a little bit of everything at the Mast General Store. From hiking boots and outdoor gear, to cookbooks, rocking chairs and jellies, there’s something for every interest. Less than a half-mile down the road from the Valle Crucis store is the Mast Store Annex. The Annex was original constructed in 1909 to be a competing general store. Today, the annex sells apparel and outdoor essentials, but the store is best known for its wide selection of candy.
