Hurricane Relief for North Carolina’s High Country
By Julie Matthews
The High Country community has banded together and reopened for business since the havoc Hurricane Helene wreaked in September 2024. While this is largely the case, a number of recovery efforts are still ongoing in sections of the region. In true community spirit, residents and businesses have extended a helping hand to one another and tried to keep things as normal as possible
During your visit you may notice road repairs in progress, annual events with a different venue location or a local park under construction. Please pack your patience and consider offering your support to the High Country community in any way you can.
For those interested in donating funds, check out the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation Hurricane Helene Relief Efforts by visiting BooneChamber.com.
Simply being here is helping the local economies of High Country towns. Dining at area restaurants, going to attractions, taking adventure tours or shopping at local stores are all examples of how your visit is providing support to local businesses.
Thank you!
