Here are our top five events happening in Boone, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk during April.
April 1: Blowing Rock Trout Derby
The Annual Trout Derby begins at sunrise on Saturday, prizes awarded at 4:30 pm. Win prizes for biggest fish in separate age categories! No entry fees are required and no pre-registration is necessary. Just take your catch to the Club House by the swimming pool before 4:30 pm (173 Lakeside Drive, Blowing Rock). April 1: Easter Eggstravaganza
The Saturday eight days before Easter. Enjoy a morning of Easter fun and entertainment featuring two egg hunts – one for younger kids and one for older kids.
Activities include a magician, a free scoop of ice cream for kids from BE Scooped, and a bonus egg hunt. The event takes place in Tate-Evans Park and will be canceled in the event of inclement weather.
April 8-9: Easter Bunny will be at Tweetsie Railroad
The Easter Bunny is coming to Tweetsie Railroad Easter weekend. Bunny hop along with the Easter Bunny during Diamond Lil’s Can-Can Revue shows in the Tweetsie Palace at 10:30 am, Noon, 1:30 pm, 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm. After the show, the Easter Bunny will be available for a meet, greet, and photos.
April 22: Families Learning Together
“Families Learning Together” is our annual Spring fundraiser to promote sustainable and natural living.
There will be lots of activities for children. Classes will be held in fermentation, sweetgrass basket making, qigong, square dancing, and more. Come and meet Doug and Stacy from their popular TV show “Off Grid with Doug and Stacy.
April 27-30: Merlefest
MerleFest, considered one of the premier music festivals in the country, is an annual homecoming of musicians and music fans held on the campus of Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, North Carolina. The festival hosts a diverse mix of artists on its 13 stages during the course of the four-day event. More info: merlefest.org
