Nov. 25: Christmas in the Park
Blowing Rock kicks off the holiday season with the annual Christmas in the Park & Lighting of the Town. On Friday, Nov. 25, come out for a free night of entertainment, family-friendly activities and holiday spirit at Memorial Park.
The event begins at noon with an appearance from Santa, followed by children’s games, free hot chocolate and apple cider and live music. Then, at 5:30 p.m. watch has Blowing Rock glows with festive holiday lights downtown.
Nov. 26: Christmas Parade
On Nov. 26th, watch as the Christmas Parade makes its way down Blowing Rock’s Main Street. All ages will love the holiday floats, costumes, animals and more. A prize will be awarded to the best decorated float.
Nov. 25: Tweetsie Christmas
On select evenings, from Nov. 25 through Dec. 30, Tweetsie Railroad transforms into a winter wonderland. The family-friendly theme park will offer nighttime train rides through thousands of dazzling lights, along with other holiday activities and entertainment.

Jan. 26: Blowing Rock WinterFest
Ditch the cabin fever and come out for four days of fun during the 25th Annual Blowing Rock WinterFest. From Jan. 26-29, 2023, this annual event features several family-friendly activities at some of Blowing Rock’s most popular attractions. Mark your calendars for the Polar Bear Plunge in Chetola Lake, WinterFeast, ice carving in Memorial Park and more.
Winter Sports in Blowing Rock
If you’re searching for thrilling winter sports, look no further than Blowing Rock. Blowing Rock is home to Appalachian Ski Mountain. Appalachian Ski Mountain, a popular ski destination for over 50 years, is a family-friendly ski resort that caters to skiers and snowboarders of every skill level.
The mountain’s summit stands at 4,000 feet with a vertical drop of 365 feet. Visit one of the three terrain parks, complete with rails, boxes and tabletops, to show off your tricks and skills. The black diamond slope, designed for experienced skiers, takes you through the woods and down the mountain.
