Due to the continued impact of Hurricane Helene, some events may be subject to cancellation.
There’s never a bad time of year to visit North Carolina’s High Country. Located in the mountain village of Sugar Mountain is Sugar Mount Resort, a popular destination for skiing and other winter sports. In the fall, Sugar Mountain hosts its annual Oktoberfest.
About Sugar Mountain Oktoberfest
Sugar Mountain Oktoberfest is Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 12-13, 2024. Sugar Mountain will transform to celebrate the Bavarian fall festival. With an array of activities, food and entertainment, Sugar Mountain Oktoberfest is perfect for the whole family.
Sugar Mountain Oktoberfest Activities
All weekend long, you can enjoy these activities at Sugar Mountain Oktoberfest. Get a bird’s-eye view of all of the festival activities from the Sugar Mountain Summit Express Chairlift, a great way to view the changing leaves.
Arts & Crafts
Browse over arts and crafts vendors at the festival. These vendors will be showcasing and selling their handmade goods, as well as food, desserts and more.
Children’s Activities
Visit the Kid’s Fun Center, located in the Ski School Play Yard. The little ones will love going on hayrides, playing corn hole, bowling with pumpkins, tossing water balloons, bouncing on the inflatables and more.
Live Entertainment
Harbour Towne Fest Band will be bringing the sounds of Bavaria on stage, performing oom pah music, from noon–4 p.m. each day. There will also be a special performance by the Avery County Cloggers on Sunday at 2pm.
Sugar Mountain Oktoberfest Food
It’s not an Oktoberfest celebration without German food and beer. Spaten beer will be on tap each day of the festival. Pair your beer with traditional Bavarian dishes, including bratwurst and knockwurst, made by a local company.
