Labor Day Weekend Events in Boone
Head to The Jones House for the last concert performance of the outdoor summer concert series. Several performers will be on the lawn of The Jones House, Friday, Aug. 30 at 5 p.m., for the free concert.
Catch the first football game of Appalachian State University’s 2019 season at Kidd Brewer Stadium. The Mountaineers will take on the East Tennessee State Bucs at 3:30 p.m.
Stock up on fresh summer produce by visiting one of the area’s farmers markets. When you visit a local farmers market, you’re not only getting the best local goods but also supporting area growers. The Watauga County Farmers Market, held Saturday, Aug. 31, features up to 75 vendors selling local products, produce, meat, cheese and much more.

Browse arts and crafts from regional and national artists at Art on the Greene. This two-day arts festival, from Saturday, Aug. 31 through Sunday, Sept. 1, showcases quality, handmade art over Labor Day weekend.
Labor Day Weekend Events in Blowing Rock
Enjoy some retail therapy at Tanger Outlets Blowing Rock. Once you’ve shopped the Labor Day weekend sales, head to the courtyard for a free concert. The ASU Pep Band and High Standard will be performing from 4–7 p.m.
Labor Day Weekend Events in West Jefferson
Indulge in local barbecue at the biggest barbecue competition in the area. The Blue Ridge BBQ & Brew Festival will be held Friday and Saturday, Aug. 30–31 at the Blue Ridge Theater & Event Center. Taste smoked barbecue from vendors, watch the steak cookoff and sip samples from the microbreweries, distilleries and wineries on site. In addition to barbecue and brew tastings, both days of the festival also feature live music.
